Gonzalo Fernández de Córdova, el Gran Capitán (the Great Captain)

It's been a long time since my last post. I've been involved in some other projects that take me a lot of time, but I think now I'll work harder and spend more time on my portfolio.
This character, el Gran Capitán, was painted for a personal CCG project that now is quite in 'stand by'. He was the greatest general of the Catholic Monarchs, Fernando II (Ferdinand II) of Aragon and Isabel I (Isabella I) of Castilla, the monarchs who united the Spanish Kingdoms. He was remembered for his brilliant leadership and charisma, named by his contemporaries 'el Gran Capitán' (the Great Captain) and "the Father of Trench Warfare" by historians.
As a field commander he had no equal in the modern era until the rise of Napoleon. De Cordoba founded the first modern standing army and the near invincible Spanish infantry that dominated battlefields of Europe during 16th and first decades of 17th centuries.
